it slumbered long in it's glass cage...
it slumbered long in it's glass cage
for hijinks was imprisoned this mage
playing games with peoples minds
giving them but part of their wildest designs
withholding the rest for chaotic mirth
so I stuffed it in a bottle, symbolizing it's unbirth
I threw that bottle into the sea
I watched it float away from me
I brushed my hands and I was free
and now I would never again see
that pranksters games imperil me
and so it was that some time later
a friend tossed me a glass container
and I knew what lay inside
it's fateful plan in thin disguise
but though I knew better, the game at play
I rubbed that bottle anyway.
