an epic sequential haiku by Joel E.
in which Don mounts up.
a girl is found, says odd things.
detectives wonder.
a call hits Dons desk
"oh boy, have we got a mess!"
Don will meet the press
he straightens his tie
the chairman will fill him in
then home for dinner.
twas a childhood dream
"I wanna be a fireman!"
this wish was fulfilled.
--------------------
"we only shot one!"
"then where did the rest come from?"
"fuck if I know, but--"
"but what Matt? but what?"
"how could a bullet do that?"
pointing to a lung.
Det. Craig sees his point.
too ghastly for a bullet.
the term: meatgrinder
he let's him go now.
"well beth, is the girl awake?"
"yeah, awake. but confused"
"hello, what's your name?"
she's nervious, but he seems kind
"Eus, my name is Eus."
"how did you get here?"
"the man in blue, he brought me"
"no, I mean the dock"
"mommy, she made me.
Krik and Ena were told too.
so we'd have 'futures'"
"I see. which one was--"
"Krik was the one that man killed
Enan, he didn't..."
this is how it went.
nonsense, getting them nowhere
prank gone wrong maybe?
"as an aside, Beth,
what exactly does it do?"
the Fabricator
it makes things appear
out of nothing more than air
free and cheap for all
and that's the answer
parroted from childhood, rote
"but how does it work?"
that they didn't teach
was it thought over their heads?
they will soon find out.
------------------------
a fireman races
to the blaze, to put it out
protect the people.
